Future and Conditional
The near future, simple future and conditional forms.
6 topics
This unit covers the near future with aller, the future tense, irregular future stems, the conditional, and je voudrais.
Start with the near future, since it needs only one irregular verb and produces correct French immediately — je vais manger requires no new endings at all. The future and conditional share the same stems, so learning each stem once serves both tenses, which halves the work. The endings differ by a single letter and that letter carries the entire meaning: je parlerai is I will speak, je parlerais is I would speak. Je voudrais is worth securing early regardless of tier, since it is expected in every role-play and sounds markedly more polite than je veux.
