The role-play is a short scripted exchange where the prompts tell you exactly what to say, so preparation is about structure rather than invention.

Read every prompt during the preparation time and decide the structure of each answer before you begin. An exclamation mark means you must ask a question, and a question mark means you must give specific information.

Register matters. Role-plays are usually formal — a shop, a hotel, a station — so use vous throughout and je voudrais rather than je veux. Answer exactly what is asked. A prompt asking for two details needs two, and answering a different question earns nothing however fluent it sounds.

Read every prompt and decide the structure of each answer before starting.

An exclamation mark means you must ask a question. A question mark means you must supply specific information. Knowing which is which before you begin prevents the most costly errors.
