Theme 1: People and Lifestyle
Theme 1: identity, relationships, healthy living and free time.
6 topics
This theme covers family and relationships, describing people, food and drink, health and fitness, school life and future career plans.
The vocabulary is broad but the grammar attached to it is predictable, and that is where the marks are. Food topics depend on the partitive article, school subjects require the definite article that English omits, and jobs take no article at all after être — elle est médecin. Health uses avoir mal à with the definite article rather than a possessive. Relationship questions reward reflexive verbs such as s'entendre avec. Across all of these, an opinion with a reason attached is worth substantially more than a list of nouns, so attach parce que wherever you can.
