Topic overview
Talking about music, film and television requires opinion structures more than vocabulary, because the mark is for the justification.
The core verbs are regarder for watching, écouter for listening, and préférer for preferring. Note that écouter needs no preposition — j'écoute la musique, not j'écoute à la musique.
Opinion phrases carry the marks: je trouve que, à mon avis, selon moi, ce que j'aime c'est. Each must be followed by a reason using parce que or car. J'aime les films d'action parce qu'ils sont passionnants is worth far more than j'aime les films, because it justifies rather than states.
Revision notes
The core verbs
Regarder for watching: je regarde la télé, je regarde un film.
Écouter for listening: j'écoute la musique. Note that écouter takes no preposition — j'écoute la musique, never j'écoute à la musique.
Opinion phrases
Je trouve que, à mon avis, selon moi, ce que j'aime c'est.
Each introduces an opinion and raises the register above a bare j'aime. Varying them across an answer demonstrates range.
Justifying
Every opinion needs a reason with parce que or car.
J'aime les films d'action parce qu'ils sont passionnants. The adjective agrees with what it describes. A justified opinion earns substantially more than a bare statement.
